This past weekend we headed out to the Brooklyn Bazaar at the new 150 Greenpoint Ave location for a night of music and fun at the night bazaar. The new venue is a former Polish event hall. The interior is funky, keeping that original charm. Grand door ways, mirrored hallways, the whole shabang. Brooklyn Bazaar offers a market area, a mini golf section, a bar and a restaurant. But, the reason for my visit was to visit the concert hall upstairs to catch the one and only King Holiday.
King Holiday is the cream of the crop, bringing an electric live show to their astro-soul sound. They are coming fresh off releasing a their “Concrete and Bricks” video on Tommy Boy Records. King Holiday in full is a 10 piece band that controls the floor with funky psychedelic tracks. On this night they were rocking a light crew, but commanded and received a room full of energy; playing classics like “Dub of Love” and new tracks.
The night was incredible, a lot of new and familiar faces. Covert Nation was most definitely in the house! King Holiday is a jewel in an over saturated New York market. I cherish every intimate show I can attend. Be sure to stay tuned to their socials and catch the next show.
But for now, enjoy:
