A few weeks back I found myself at Paul Vincent Gallery to check out an event by local creative KAE. The night was named the Free You Project and was a collection of artists to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention. The night combined visual artists, poetry and musical performances of local talent. The event was co-hosted by the homies Bask NY, who crossed the Hudson river and made promises to import chopped cheese to Jersey.
It was great to see the surreal arts of Pedro Baez and the human canvases brought to life by the amazing Toushai. From the gallery the night moved over to moving poetic readings from Yanel Rivera, Hanif Bugg, Poetic Solo and Ms. Elle Vi. The poetry section closed with a gripping short film about life’s fragility and our emotional written by our host KAE. The night ended by showcasing musical talents. Prada G, Mateo Ahki, Keeys and tha Wav rocked for the crowd to close out the night.
The night brought together a great group of supportive people for a great cause. All in all the Free You Project raised over $1,200 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Be sure to stay tuned to KAE and Bask NY‘s socials for experiences coming soon.
