Last week I heard about a new venue down the block from my house. I took a walk down Jersey Art Exchange (JAX) to catch a show featuring .newt, Rock Solid, Young Scum and Din. The space is nice and is the latest addition to the rising Monticello Street. JAX is a non-profit gallery and arts enrichment program has great potential to showcase and share the arts scene in this city. I’m incredibly excited to have them in the neighborhood just in time for summer.
This Saturday they are hosting an incredibly special event, A Night With JAX. The night kicks off the summer and raises money for the summer tech program for local teens, called Youth Media & Tech Center. The night includes films by the legendary film maker, Kahlil Joseph. There will also be music by storied Jazz drummer, Winard Harper.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $40 online and $50 at the door. JAX is located at 114 Monticello Ave and the doors open a 7pm.
The Jersey Art Exchange is located at 114 Monticello Avenue, in the Bergen-Lafayette area of Jersey City. The event runs from 7:00 – 10:00. Tickets for the event are $40 online or $50 at the door.
